Distance Between Gas Valve and Stove
If you have recently moved and are planning to install your stove, there are a few points to keep in mind. One of these points is maintaining a safe distance between the gas valve and the stove. If your stove is not at a proper distance from the gas valve, your safety and that of those around you will be at serious risk, and often these risks are irreparable.
But at what distance should we place the stove from the gas valve during installation? In this article from Achareh magazine, we will provide the necessary information to determine the distance between the gas valve and the stove. We recommend that you stay with us until the end.
Determining the Distance Between the Gas Valve and the Stove
To ensure your stove is at a safe distance from the gas valve, the type of stove you have is very important. As you know, various types of stoves are produced by manufacturers today, each with its unique dimensions. Therefore, the standard distance should be determined based on the type and dimensions of your stove.
If you think that maintaining a safe distance is a personal preference, you should reconsider. This practice is backed by law, and there are national regulations in place to ensure the health and safety of yourself and those around you.
- According to national building regulations, the best distance from the stove body is estimated to be 30 centimeters and this distance should preferably not be less than this. A minimum distance has also been specified, which in this case is 10 centimeters from the stove body. However, maintaining a safe lateral distance between the stove and the gas valve is not enough, and you should also consider other points during the stove installation.
- Another safety point to consider during stove installation is the distance of the gas valve from the ground. According to national building regulations, the gas valve that the stove is connected to should be at least 90 centimeters from the ground. A 110-centimeter distance from the ground is considered an ideal distance for the gas valve in relation to the stove.
- During stove installation, ensure that the gas valve is not positioned higher than the stove flames, and it should be at or below the level of the flames.
If you plan to connect the stove using an intermediary connector, usually a gas hose, its length should be 120 centimeters. In this case, remember that the gas hose should not exceed 150 centimeters as it increases the likelihood of issues such as leaks. - When determining the stove’s position, pay attention to the slope of the surface beneath it to avoid installing the stove on a sloped surface if possible. Also, after connecting the fittings, don’t forget to perform a final safety check. To do this, after ensuring all connections are securely made, use a solution of soap and water to check for leaks in the connections and the link between the stove and the gas valve. If a problem is found, take immediate action to address it.
